Powdercoating recommendation in NW? [see post #25]

Any recommendations? I want as close to standard anthracite as possible and don't want to pay an arm and a leg or travel very far, but I want a decent job doing!

Prices?

I think £340ish falls under 'an arm and a leg' but there's a decent place near me that does wheel refurb/recolour. Their Anth is marginally lighter than standard. I love it

Re: Powdercoating in NW

I was thinking £200 tops! It'd be cheaper to buy a brand new set and sell these ones to get some money back.

Yeah. The place is very pricey, i thought I'd mention it just incase though.

DIY it? You did a decent job on the gold

Anthracite alloys : 205-110 (IXELL paint)

Re: Powdercoating in NW

I want a more permanent fixture... close up the bronze (;)) isn't the best of jobs as I was running out of paint towards the end!

I can get wheels powder coated for £100ish that's blasted and any colour you want.

Although I'm not sure if there anthracite is the same colour as standard as I've never had anything in that colour.

They also do plating :) my parts look so shiny..

Re: Powdercoating in NW

Is that all 4 wheels? Does it include tyre removing/refitting or would I have to get that done myself?

Theres a place in Brum that chargers £ 20 a corner but more of you want wheels removing.

I had my 1.2 wheels done at city powdercoating in Brum. It's cheap and you get what you pay for imo.

I'm thinking about getting my anthracite F1's done again soon. I'll be going to the wheel specialts.

Yeah that's for 4 £25 a wheel. Tbh I can't fault them they are more trade than public but there willing to dodo a bit for cash on the side. Will always use them.

So they sort the tyres and it's all included in the price? Where do I sign? ;)

It's a extra 50 to have the tyres removed then re fitted and balanced. If you want them doing can you get spare wheels for a week. That will give them time to remove, blast, powdercoat and re fit and balance tyres.

Just let us know either way.

Re: Powdercoating in NW

I could probably source a set. So £150 all in? Do they have a website so I can see any of their previous work?

Re: Powdercoating in NW

I'll go see them on Monday and il get a Guaranteed price for you.. Had a set done 6 months ago for a friend and they were £100 coated and my local tyre fitted removed, replaced and balanced the wheels for £50 once I find out il give you a call/text I think I still have your number.

Re: Powdercoating in NW

After a bit of research I've decided that I need somewhere that will do a proper job, rather than a cheap one.

I need a place that will acid dip them rather than bake the old stuff off, and somewhere that will use the correct oven temperatures so as not to damage the alloy. Any recommendations?
