Power Boost Valve...Any Good

Dunno whether to get one, what difference do they actually make power/acceleration wise? Do they +bhp? Wheres the best place to get them? Who makes them, which is the best? Is it a DIY job or not?

This item isnt any good unless your engine is modded eg. induction kit, free flow exhaust, gas flowed head etc etc.

This will increase fuel pressure into the injectors so you then need to get the fuelling sorted out on a rolling road if you fit the PBV. Speak to BB tuning about this.. You can get there number from this site as they sponsor cliosport.

HEY GUYS.............thats not fair.............them power boost valves are excelent................i used one on the sprinkler system on my mums greenhouse !!....works a bloddy treat !!



wouldnt want you car Bazz..............be a bugger if the cam belt snapped.......jeez.....96 valves to replace !!!

dont get a PBV there not accurate get a chip as this sorts out the fuelin wit accuracy!

PBV = £90
Chip = £150 from hillpower

Whats the cost of a new cam then Fartherted? Is it the same as the timing belt? if so its been done. How longs the chip take to put in and tune etc. Whats gains would i be looking at?

Power boost valves are just higher preasure fuel regulators. They just feed the fuel rail with a constant preasure of fuel that helps iron out and dead spots in the rev range - no real power increase... more throttle responce. They need to be setup properly on a RR to get the best out of em.

yep.......ive seen that question.......right next to....."how long is a piece of string !!!!



New cam: what cam are we on about ??? O.E ? Kent ? piper? do you want 1 or a pair ?

is it the same as a timing belt: well if you can buy a cam for your car for £20 ill be well impressed !

how long does the chip take to put in & tune etc: are we talking unichip ?? super chip ?? piggy back chip ? Mcains oven chip ? i would say it depends on whos fitting it & what problems may arise !

What gains would i be looking at?: that depends on what chip you have fitted & what sort of other modifications you already have done to your car !!

at the end of the day Bazz............like everyone on here is telling you..............putting a PBV on will do diddly squat !....you need the other mods for it to make a difference.....i.e gas flowed head..better cams , ported inlet & outlet manifolds.....etc etc !!!

they are not linear, they are rising rate regulators which work of manifold pressure differential. They have an adj base line pressure and they havea large diaphram to respond better to vacuum changes.

My car has one fitted, but it was on when I got the car. I think it was added when the headwork and cam re-profiling was done (so the bill says) to help it idle better?

I had a go in a Williams with a PBV fitted and it was C*** rough and idled like a ferret on speed! If you get one it must be set up properly or this is what you will get!
