Power gain from these mods...

  Suzuki Ignis Sport
Please no spam about the modifications etc.

How much more power would i gain in my 1.2 16v from my Pipercross induction kit, with CAF, and heat shield and a Peco backbox?

Please no silly comments about the modifications. Just want a straight precise answer.

Thank you.

Basically zero I'd say mate.

Maybe get a couple from the filter with cold air feed but I'd say that's aboutit.

It may feel quicker with them fitted but more than likely to be a placebo affect (ie. not actually any quicker but just feels it cos of the better noise etc)

dont even bother. just dont bother. stick with a good pannel filter, i had a k&n and it made a difference. i switched back to the cardboard one before i sold it and it got even slower than it already was lol.

point is. save for somehitng better. i decided to go for another 1.2 because 45mpg with a 50mpg+++ when cruising is rarther satisfying lol. but whats stopping you going for a 1.4 or a 1.6. they have a fair bit of grunt behind them.

Yea I was thinking, if it is any quicker, may have something to do with something psychological.

But ever since i installed the IK, i have noticed better throttle response. And correct me if im wrong, a PECO exhaust will give even better response?

Just a backbox will make next to no difference apart from changing the sound and looks.

If it were a full system, it would make a bit more power, but not a lot.

Whats stopping me getting a 1.4 or a 1.6 is the fact that if i did want a bigger engine car, it'll have to looks different than my 1.2... i know there is 1.4/1.6 RS Reps, but they just won't do, they're not the real McCoy... I have contemplated in selling up and getting a 172, but just not the time now. The 1.2 is doing fine . :)

lol ok then. suit yourself. the 1,6 would be a good go between for a 172. how old are you anyways ?

Really all id do is -

Decat
new manifold form ktec
Backbox of somesort
pannel filter or a good ik like a viper
lower it

wouldnt bother with anything else tbh.

TBH, i have never really thought about getting a 1.4 or a 1.6, if i did ever get another clio mk2, it'll have to be a 172/182... i wouldn't go for the 1.4 or 1.6.

So might aswell make the 1.2 the way i want it :)

  172 Cup
had a peco on my RSi, made a lovely noise =] worth the buy.
but as rest of people said leave the 1.2 alone and bite the bullet and get a 172. insurance isnt that much and you seem to be spending far to much money atm on utter rubbish =]

  FIAT PANDA 100HP!!!!
i'd go:
* induction kit
* cat back stealth exhaust
thats it, made a massive difference on mine.
as for power gains, with the right stuff it is possible to see upto 10bhp, iirc middo was succesful doing this!

My 1.2 16v Std: 76bhp.
My 1.2 16v with remsport/remus exhaust and piper x open cone: 86bhp.

Fred will confirm.

So is it more noise than power?..

basically yeah. think about how much all this will cost, £300-400+ for a decent exhaust, £50-100 decat, £30-300 for filter (depends on how mental you go, like Maxogen for example)... already thats a fair chunk of money. Just enjoy the car as it is mate, then when you can insure something quicker then get that. Only reason I mod my car is because you can see some gains, but even then, for what you spend it's not great always and that's on a 2.0

Well tbh, i bagged bargains :)

IK £35.

Peco backbox £40. lol

I have PECO back box and K&N Panel filter and to be honest it's done sweet f.a. The filter has made the car feel slightly more pokey, but in terms of power gain it's next to nothing.

Don't waste your money mate.

well in that case fire them on, but I'd not spend too much on the 1.2 as you'll want something quicker at some point and will kick yourself at all the money you have spent on it if you go mental lol. This will be the last Clio I tune tbh, the engine will live on in another shell worst case scenario

I tend not to spend too much on my 1.2

I do like to mod my car, as it does get boring when it is standard, but as many of you may be aware, i like to haggle, and get the cheapest possible price :)

In regards to weight reduction.

I am thinking of removing my isofix bar.... any other suggestions???

Waste of time, silly backbox will just make it sound shite, IK with CAF we could argue all day some people claim it makes a difference others don't. The gains would also be so small they wouldn't show up on a rolling road.
Basically your not going to get any gains for £75

If you want to make your car go faster, strip it out, and its free too.

I spent the £75 just for appearance and noise. I know full well its not gnna make MUCH of a difference to the cars performance, as my car is just for leisure, not racing.

When I stuck my backbox on, I didnt do it for power gains, as I knew there wouldnt be any. I just wanted it to sound a bit more throaty, which it does now, so in my eyes it was worth it.
Not sure about a filter though. I was considering one before, but I dont think I will bother on my car at the moment.

I get bored with things seriously quickly, which has been a problem for me all my life really. Thats why I think I'll just enjoy it for what it is now, and move on next year, to something as a stop gap between this and a 172 Cup.

Pissing money up the wall springs to mind.

Personally wouldn't bother for the tiny gains you will get, certainly not worth the money.

  Suzuki Ignis Sport
Exactly like me caeteez, i am just getting the backbox for the throaty sound. :)

and I too, get bored easily!

The chances are that if you fix that back box (or mostly any peco for that matter) your car will sound anything but throaty - it'll probably sound a mess tbh.
In effect you'll be turning it into one of those cars that is all noise & no go, which to me is utterly pointless.
