Power steering fluid?

Pump is being a whiney b**ch at the moment and looked at the fluid level and it's low!

ive looked at ECP and all the fluids seem to have some "stop leak" additive in them..

can I buy any of it with that stuff in or should I steer clear?

I've just brought some of the stuff from ECP, says it's safe with dextrin II & III so thought why not... Ill feedback my findings and couldn't find any dextron fluid

I really need something I can pick up tomorrow really! Don't wanna use the car much whilst I need this fluid! Wouldn't get it till earliest Thursday :/

My pump was whining, new pump from renault Wolverhampton was £150.. I wouldn't trust the stop leak stuff. Just my 2p, it's a waste of cash.

Yeah ah mate I wanted to just get stuff without that leak stop just wondered if it was gonna do more harm?
Did you replace the pump yourself? Was it difficult?

Cheers bud.. Have no idea what kind of stuff to put in and didn't wanna just throw any old s**t into it! Just need to see how difficult it is to remove and refit a new steering pump!

Top up the fluid first to max and drive it a bit before ruling out your pump definitely needs changing.

I thought mine did and it turned out the noise was else where, you need a special tool to remove a flange and then another to push it back in on the pumps so its not as straight forward for a DIY'er (if its a new pump) 2nd hand pumps would be a straight swap.

Yeah i read somewhere you needed a special tool to press the flange! Yeah that's why i was gonna top up the steering fluid before doing anything else

Would probably buy second hand pump anyway tbh.. I've got a lot of tools just not any specialist ones!
