Power steering issue 172

I seem to have got a small issue with the steering rack on our 172 52reg, there is some fluid around the drivers side rubber boot and I've checked and it needs the fluid topping up, is this a case of it needs a new rack or can the boot be fixed? Just trying to gauge the cost

When you say boot are you referring to the steering rack gaitor? If so see if it is split and leaking from elsewhere first.

Yep it's very damp around the drivers gaitor at the end of the rack, it's used some power steering fluid just wondering if it's a problem that's has easy to fix the gaitor or it's another rack
