I'm sorry I can't help but I feel for you. I've had to replace my steering rack because of a leak in the seal in the gaiter. Managed to get the job done relatively cheap so if it comes to it make sure you have a good shop around.

I dropped the car at my preferred local garage yesterday morning and they confirmed it to be the high pressure hose from the pump to the rack which was leaking. Hopefully it'll be fixed today/tomorrow.

Just to give a close to this, garage diagnosed it to be the high pressure pipe as I thought.
£135 all in for pipe, labour and fluid.
