Power steering pump, knackered belt or something else?

Was wandering if someone could help me diagnosing this sound on my car that's started recently.

The video below was just after turning on the ignition and this is when it happens. When I move the steering wheel this is the noise I'm greeted with. There seems to be a little resistance when moving from side to side, however once its warmed up the noise goes away and its back to normal. I've always had a small but normal whine via the steering but nothing like this.

Cheers, Mark.

That was my first port of call. Initial viewings was that it was between both markers but its hard to see due to not being a clear bottle. Would the noise reduce one the car is warned up then?

I've just recorded this. The car has been standstill for 8hrs. Tried getting steering wheel, engine and wheel movement and sound to show that it does it through all turns of the wheel.

Sounds like a knackered PAS pump unfortunately! Mine doesn't sounds perfect gives a fair bit of noise when I'm parking/giving loads of lock at low speeds. But not as bad as what yours sounds!

I'm sure the power steering pump is driven by the Aux belt? If so it won't be as bad of a job as having to get your cambelt re-done.

yes its driven by the aux belt. sounds like a bearing has gone which becomes more prominent when the pump is under load.

Cliospares sell them on eBay for £50 with 3 month warranty, I did mine last month and its not too bad a job if you take the slam panel and grill out you have much better access. Good excuse for a new aux belt/tensioner anyway!

Thanks for all the help guys. It's always nice to know what it is before I start making calls.

Ill probably contact dan at 519 to sort it out. Lower osf ball joint has a bit of play so get both done in one hit hopefully, price dependant.

I re-checked the levels today and seeing it in a different light the levels was low. Bought some castol aft dex ll and topped it all back up, turning lock to lock to get out any remaining air and its now back to normal  What a rookie, eh?!

Thanks to all responses though guys.
