Power Steering Shagged

When the car is at a standstill and i begin to turn the wheel, the power from the engine is seriously drained and the rev counter drops bellow 400rpm!! Plus the steering is really heavy and makes a terrible drone and also feels like its rubbing as the wheel turns through the steering wheel......... Not nice! One more thing, even if i go over the slightest bump, there is a tiny knock from the front right nothing major but definately there! Not nice!

Have you checked the fluid level?

Yeh, it was fine last time i checked - take it that is the small box on the drivers side?

No idea where it is in the valver, in the 172 it has a picture of a steering wheel on it! lol

Would be the first thing Id check if pump is making funny noises.

maybe the pas pressure stat switch is faulty. a small switch screwed into the pas pipe. when the pas is used the pressure increases and the switch closes. this tells the ecu to slightly increase idle speed to prevent the engine stalling. would check the oil level first though.
