PowerMac G5 optical drive replacement?

Chaps,

Can a replacement be pretty much any standard optical drive? Or does it have to be a specific one?

The one at work has finally decided to say F.O to any disc you wish to insert.

Pretty sure that its a standard IDE optical drive but you might have to take off the front cover on the cd drawer so when it ejects it doesn't catch on the metal flap.
