If Blu-Ray was the only HD format or Blu-Ray was the obvious winner in the HD format war then the price of the PS3 is actually a fair price for what you get. In the latest DVD & Hi-Fi/Home Cinema mags the reviews say the PS3 plays Blu-Ray titles better than the standalone players which cost upwards of £800
The main sticking point is that Joe Public at the moment are quite happy to stick with standard DVD's so the included Blu-Ray drive is almost irrelevant as a selling point
However PS3 sales over the past 4 weeks have resulted in a big shift in Blu-Ray movie purchases so that for the first time Blu-Ray titles are now outselling HD-DVD titles
Those that payed full whack for a 360 and then bought the add-on HD-DVD drive wont have paid much less than the PS3, and the PS3 has 3 times disk capacity, backward compatible and true 1080p output, I too had previously jumped on the bandwagon of anti Sony-PS3 stuff but looking back I was misinformed by, if shifting a few PS3's before they've even hit Europe results is a massive hold on Blu-Ray being the biggest seller then the format war could definitely hit HD-DVD by summer if the PS3 sells well
