Pre Reg... Dodgy deal (urgent advice)

Got my 225 off my dealer (as a pre reg).

All paperwork says I bought it 9th Jul. I drove away on 9th.

DVLAs been told I got it 13th Jul.

Dealer would not let me send off my bit off the V5 for the 182 I traded in (on the 9th).

Few problems with the 225 now... can I get out of this?

It amazes me how people dont take more care when buying the second most expensive thing they are likely to buy!!

omar, do a search for pre reg problems. Somoeone posted about this. It has something to do with the dealer not being allowed to transfer the car over to your name for 3 months or something.

225s a great car. I will only go and buy another one...

I get the feeling that this ones been in a smash. Been washing/waxing/sealing paint this w/e and bodywork not totally right... some movement from wings, and bumpers. Lines not matching... (saw another 225 which wasnt like this at all).

hmmm, not summat you can complain about then as its not a warranty issue.

Ive told dealer about bodywork, booked next Tues... will see what they have to say.

Also getting VERY poor MPG... again they will look at it... will see what they have to say.

Got some funny noise from engine... opened bonnet, to find heat shield came loose from somewhere and was catching fan (i mean FFS?!).... will see what they have to say.

Worried about having one of those cars thats in and out of the dealers every month! (182 worked fine from day one... shame about the size).

If I can get outta this one, I would like to (as I do 4k a month and dont really want to be in and out of dealers evey week!)

yeah, thats the case, there is a 90 day period where the dealer is not allowed the sell the car. I think it has to do with VAT but I may be wrong.

From my understanding.
The dealers by the car in as a fleet car, or demo car. Because its for business use they get to claim back the vat = huge saving for dealer.

Now, to stop every dealer claiming that the cars are for business use, but then just selling them and passing the savings onto the customer, they have to keep the car for 90 days or so.
Its only at this point they can sell the car.
However what most dealers do is keep the car in the dealerships name for the 90 days (even if the customer drove it away on day one) and then they hand over the V5.

At least thats my understanding.

mate why did you chop in the 182 for the v6 - just interested, was it purely cos its better or was it another reason?

The dealer has to by law tell you about any remedial work - but you have to ask first! or he/she wont say.

Just read all the post about quality probs with new renos - dont let that put you off, any new car has running in probs and niggles - thats what a warranty is for - the paint well thats a different story. It does beg the question im afraid though - how come you didnt thoroughly check it first - i mean they cost a fortune - but i guess that last comment is not what you really want to hear!
