prob with a mix i recorded via line in...

i usually record my mixes with my laptop via the mic as i didnt have any line in on it but ive now got my decks rigged up to my new pc which does have a line in.

i finished recording a mix and to my horror when i listened back the volume throughout goes up and down like a *****s knickers!

anyone any ideas whats wrong? i am using soundforge to record and im using the booth on my djm600 to allow me to control the recording level.

cheers

how often is the output level rising and falling? you could try normalising the mix to level that out, but be carefull with normalisation, you dont wanna suck the dyanmic range out of your mix

its as if ive just moved the master volume up and down thru the whole mix, normalising it defo wont fix it, i really just want to know why it did it, i might try using rec out on my mixer but im sure ive tried that b4 and had some sort of volume problem, too quiet i think...

sounds as if theres been some sort of slow release compressor applied to it. you can always correct it manually using a volume envelope then render it again..

i've never seen it happen before, unless you've got a compressor on the input channel of sound forge when you recorded it
