Hi all,

whats involved in getting new cams for the MKII172. in terms of fitting, cost, performance BHP/NM gains ((average?)). Could i have some fitted without chip afterwards as i dont want anything visible to effect my warranty or insurance.. it was enough to find that my insurance went up to the exact amount of my last mod £110 eibachs so £10 extra a month.. i wont be declaring for my next mod..

I wouldnt bother with cams on the F4R unless you are prepared to go down the route of piggy back ECU at least.

Andy at GDI netted a gain of approx 20+bhp with cams and a remap on a 172, although it was a tad down on power to start with.

Cams alone lead to a more peaky engine with no really power gain.

I would get the std inlet manifold ported and matched for a larger gain.
