Problem Formatting

So the computer will boot the existing windows fine, im on it now, but when i go to format it, you load up the windows screen after post, and you get to the blue screen and it says please wait, where you should have the list of options, it simply turns the computer off. This does it with both my origional and genuine XP cd and also a copy of a stripped out version.

Only things ive done today are change my computer fan back ot the origional as the Freezer was big, dusty and noisy, have re-greased the cpu, and also remove my secondary hard drive. no bios settings have been changed aside from the boot sequence.

I have not tried resetting the bios as i dont think itl make much difference but if you think i should, i will.

  Better than yours. C*nt.
're-greased' - wtf? It should be an extremely (almost invisible) film of thermal interface, not 'grease' - and if that's the case it's probably cooking itself to thermal shutdown.

Thermal compound/thermal grease, turned out the std CPU cooler wasn't up to the job, bordering 80degrees after it restarted lol.

Decided to give the entire computer a clean out, removed the heatsyncs off everything and got out the car detailing brush lol. Working fine now lets hope.!
