Problem removing dash in Mk2Ph2

  Renault Clio Dynamique 02
Been trying to install my new components today.

The door woofer is sorted now - hooked up with spade connectors and sounding good. Need to go back to it tomorrow and put the dynamat in as they're so loud the doors are really rattling!

Problem is with the replacing the old tweeters. They are under the front dash. Followed the instructions to remove the dash in the Haynes manual down to a tee. However, when trying to remove it, the drivers half seems like it would come off but on the passenger side, I think the airbag is somehow getting in the way, even though the Haynes manual says the dash should just pull off. I have unscrewed everything that needs to be, the problem seems to be it getting caught somewhere on the underside of the dash - only prob is I have no idea what part of the airbag area it is catching.

Anyone ever taken their dash off? Any tips? Any ideas about my problem as far as a solution goes?

Thanks :)

make sure you have taken the side pieces of interior trim off, the bits the alarm sensors are screwed in to. As long as all the screws have been removed and the side pieces of trim, the dash should just pull off very easily.

Up by the clock and temp. sensor are some clips so you may need to give it a put from there?

I have taken the A trim panels off. Not sure where the alarm sensor is really - have to look. I'm not sure if my Dynamique has that - are you thinking of a 172?

I followed the Haynes manual - removed:
- A trim panels
- the plastic silver dash bits (passenger side says 'AIRBAG') and removed the 3 screws behind it on the passenger side, and the 1 behind the driver side
- the two screws under the instrument panel (just above the steering wheel column, below the dials)
- the 3 screws along the front of the dash right by the windscreen
- 1 screw each end of the dash on the side

Think that's it and according to the Haynes manual that should do it, but alas no.

@msa182 - I'll have a look and see if I can find those clips - going out to look at it again in a bit

Thanks for your input guys, keep it coming :D

dont the tweeter grills just rotate on top of the dash, about 90 degrees to become 'unlocked' and then just lift out revealing the tweeter itself? iirc from mine?

yer u can rotate the tweater grills and they come off

i know this sounds silly but be more force full

mine was tight when i first took mine off, i thinkits to do with air vents having tight conections

best if u get 2 ppl to grab either side and pull firmly together
