Problem with M3 mirrors. Help please

alrite lads. jus wonderin if you could help me. i have bough a set of m3 mirrors and i am having trouble fitting them. i have followed all of the instructions upto the point of puttin them on the car. when i put the mirror on to screw it in, i realised that the bits on the new base plates that i am supposed to be screwing it into isbnt long enuff and it wont fit. on the old ones there was a nut and bolf fitment.

Has anyone ever had this problem. if so can you please please help me becasue it is really stressin me out. lol.

trim the bases to fit then brute force, the bolts are long enough if you push hard enough, very difficult on your own but it can be done.

ive tried that. but it doesnt work. the thing is, is when you take your old ones off there are 3 bolts on it and they are self taped into the base plates on the original. the new base plates havent got anything on the them so they doent reach through the hols in the doors. so im stuck. do you know what i can do. did u have this problem. the base plates are the rite size but i just cant screw them in. any ideas???

the bolts come out

get a pair of pliers on them, they unscrew then simply screw them into the new ones

dont screw them all the way in though as theyll warp the plastic and theyll be too short to screw the nuts onto

I could only get nuts on 2 of the 3 bolts

Yeah - some pliers to remove the old ones, some threaded rod from a diy place and a little loktite to give a bit of extra security and voila - sorted mine out a treat
