Problem with the 172 cup

i also hav a 182 so i know about the noisy engine mounts in the clio's however on my 172 cup i am gettin more of a clicking or knocking noise when i accelerate hard in 1st gear. if i accelerate normally i dont hear it but it i floor it in 1st then its there again but only in the 1st gear. is it possibly engine of gearbox mounts that are on their way out or could it b anything else?

also if it is the engine mounts that need replacing how much roughly would i be lookin at to get it sorted??

clicking noise eh? hum, sounds more like a driveshaft/wheel bearing sort of thing

a friend of mine is sure its either the engine mounts or gear box mounts!! like i said u only hear it when u hammer it in 1st

take the battery out and look at the upper gearbox mount in that case

had similar , it was the engine mount on top of the gear box , as fred says , have a look under the battery .

very common fault imo

Just tighten it up and it will be fine, but if your dog bone mount is slack too this will need replacing else the engine will rock still and loosen up the gearbox mounts again.
