Problems after service!

Hi guys,

I've just bought a 53 plate 172 cup and absolute love it! First track day in 3 weeks, can't wait!

Anyway, I took it to my local Renault Dealership for it's 24k service last week. Ever since then it takes at least 2 attempts to start from cold...it never did this before the service. Has anybody else had similar problems? I have no idea what could cause this?! Once started it runs great though.

Any help would be mush appreciated.

Yeah. The problem only occurs when I haven't driven the car for a few hours, first thing in the morning, after an 8 hour shift at work, etc...

It's nothing major and has never failed to start. Just doesn't start as well as it did before the service.

Any ideas?

Stupid thing to say... but battery?

Over tightend plugs?

haha, Check your engine bay for spanners!

Cheers mate. I was actually thinking it could be something to do with the plugs but they're not supposed to touch them at the 24k service are they?

I did also think about the battery, but it was absolutely fine before the service so kind of discounted that one.

Definitely no spanners knocking around under the bonnet so that's a bonus...ha ha!

get out of the car and look at the front just under bonnet latch in the grill u will see a shiny silver diamond..............................

Tdc Sensor i would say does the engine just turn over and over. Red Immob light going out?

No it doesn't just turn over and over. It tries to turn over once, then completely dies. If I try it again immediately after it starts straight away!

Like I said, it's not a major problem and only happens when cold. I just thought it was a bit weird because the problems started the day after it's service!

Not to worry guys, thanks for your help. I'll just have to keep an eye on it, hopefully it won't get any worse.

It's common, my 172 would mainly fire up 2nd go.

if the problam didnt happen before the garage touched it - i would take it backand tell them to sort it..

Back on the 'i took it to renault and it came back broke' topic ...... mine had its 24k service yesterday and as well as not fixing a number of the problems i highlighted with them, the garage has returned my car with a leaking front headlight washer jet!! It wasnt bloody leaking when i dropped it off! :quiet:

Mine has a leaking jet too - i'm taking it back booked in under warranty work. Maybe it's leaking because they topped up your washer resevoir? and you didn't notice it had previously emptied? Just a thought.

Mine once went though a phase of running real lumpy when i was driving miss daisy, took it for a half hour blast and has been fine ever since!

...try the same, it might work, it's fench afterall.

Well thats the thing, i always keep the resevoir topped up to the brim anyaway. The guy i bought the car from 6 weeks ago mentioned that the washer leaked, but i have never noticed it leaking until i mentioned it to the garage and now its come back with a constant trickle running down the front bumper. And im one of those freaks who keeps my car super clean and i would have noticed it leaking if it had of been before the garage spazzed it!
