*** Progress Update***

I went down to the bodyshop this morning to catch up with Lee and how the car is doing, he's made good progress and I'm now very excited for it to be finished and back with me!

All very exciting!

I'll go back next weekend to see it again, by which point it should be primed and ready for paint :)

Whilst it's away surely you can get a move on with the wheels? Amazing work though, nice to see it not being rushed either. This could turn out immensely well if you carry on at this rate. One of the most interesting threads on here for a while.

Strangely enough, I've been focussing on my garage while its been away.

It used to look like the aftermath of a small earthquake, mess everywhere and generally a poor place to be working.

It should be finished by the time the BMW returns. It'll have a full workbench, storage, extra deep worktops, vice, shadowboards, overhead storage, electricity hookup, hot and cold water, the lot.

The idea is that I'll have a proper workshop to use while I rebuild the car :)

Went down to Body and Design today to catch up with Lee and the progress on the car.

All looking good, base colour is due to go on next week, ready for collection on Good Friday.

Smoothed front valance is looking well too. Very excited for that.

I'm so gutted that I won't be here for the car coming back. Can't wait to get started to help you throw things back in...Apart from the dash. I'm washing my hair that night.

Yeah, I've been excited recently, but when those pictures landed on my phone, I got really giddy!

There's a million things that need doing, but in all it should be an enjoyable process. Apart from the dash, like Rhys and Jon have said. That won't be pleasant at all.

Yep, I'm very excited tbf.

One of the first jobs is to sort the drains.

This is how they should be laid out:

Unfortunately my two front ones have been cut short, so they drain onto the sills/front corners of the floorpan, which is why I've had such extensive corrosion to these areas.

This is how my two front ones end:

So the plan is to drill the sill, Waxoyl the hell out of the inside of the sill, insert a new rubber pipe and attach it to the end of the existing one, then finish it off with a rubber grommet, so the water from the sunroof will drain out onto the floor.

This is one of the more immediate jobs that needs doing, otherwise I'll be back to square one with rusty corners.

Good work, considering how cheap the pipe will be can you not fit all new stuff? Or is that a ball ache?

Wish I lived closer, I'd love to come lend a hand.

It's a bit of a b**ch to change the lot, although I am taking the headlining out, so I might see how easy it is to run one complete pipe all the way down to the sill, like you say.

It'll be at Trax, if that's any good? :)
