Hardly fair to call it a track car since it's never been on track. I'm in built not bought paddock.


After getting a hail of text abuse from a group message for not writing anything with the photo's, i may as well pop something up.

Car is a complete animal to drive now, the paddle clutch combined with the lumpy cam and itb's screaming past 8k really has transformed it.
Tyres have blown me away already, after never running proper tires before these really do stick.

I've also changed the steering wheel to a swede OMP WRC wheel. Has slightly less dish than my corsica, which is better as the snap off boss put's it closer to me anyway.
Currently looking into gauge options, want oil temp and pressure so the SPA dual gauge seems ideal. Researching currently into how is best to mount the sensors, potentially a sandwich plate and oil cooler will be next for the car as i can mount the sensors in the sandwich plate.
Gauge will go where the stereo is now, 90% sure that ill ditch the stereo because i haven't turned it on since i've had the car back.

A suspension overhaul is also on the cards, going to Bilstien GRP N dampers and a new rear beam. Then a full cage early 2014.

Been in London for a few days after FCS so not had a chance to update this thread.


Personally i found FCS to be a cracking day. I was lucky enough to be asked to go onto the 'Built Not Bought' Themed paddock, situated right in the centre of the show next to Performance French Car Magazine stand.
I was working the entire run up to FCS so didn't have time to give the car a full detail but it scrubbed up well for the day.


I think holding it at Combe is a great change, i know it's further for alot of people to travel but with a scene our size i thought it fitted perfectly and wasn't too cramped. (given Japfest is usualy at Combe and they get alot more people)


As expected i left the bonnet open all day on the saxo, got ALOT of attention and good comments, two blokes even said it was the car of the show for them.
I did find out that there is somthing about wrinkle paint which draws people in, with everyone having an urge to rub the rocker cover :panic:


Good to see a few faces that i haven't met before (Mathias, Beaniemoo, Luke, etc)
And good to see the odd old face, you know who all you are.


Car drove fantastically there and back, even showing up an Astra VXR at 130mph on my private runway on the return trip.
I'm hoping to get out on track at TRAX but track time seems to be mostly sold out. So i'll be joining in with some action days later this year instead and only getting a passenger band for TRAX.

Future plans for the car? Nothing to mental this year.
The stereo will be coming out as i have not had it on since having ITB's, and a carbon panel going in with a SPA gauge and other bits.
Maybe a flocked dash
And a full suspension overhaul (new beam with bigger ARB, Group n's, coilover conversion and some form of adjustable top mounts if any come up second hand)


Then a full cage around January time, with full interior braided lines for fuel and brakes.

​Like i said, stereo is out and window switches fitted into a carbon blank.Will house a dual SPA gauge eventually when i send it away to get it fitted and wired properly. Beaniesport maybe......

Had a little niggle bugging me too, after a hard drive oil escapes from the Mocal breather cap over the catch tank. I presume its where the breather pipe is so close to the cap the vapor gets sucked out.
The orange cap never sat right either, so i bought a new black cap. Fitted it tonight and cleaned up the mating area. Hopefully that stops it.

It was some old blokes dad who looked at everything on the car, seemed interested so i stood talking to him for ages. Turns out he had one and just liked it. Each to their own i suppose.

Takes me back to my saxo days, I had the peugeotsport group n coilovers on my old vts, i used a company called tms who built the c2r2 rally cars etc.

I went for the gravel spec spring/damper combo which was pretty good on the road.

Cage YO!




It's the rear half of a safety devices full cage, with an added harness bar. Originally i was looking for a full cage, but when this came up i had to have it.
I always used to badger the owner to sell this to me, now the car has changed hands to a friend of mine, he wanted a full cage so i had this finally.


I can always get the front section of the cage welded on at a later date if i feel like it, but for now it does me and keeps weight down.

Was a good show despite the rain, however i was sat in the car for an hour thinking 'Where the fcuk is our gazebo this year?' Only then to see it behind me with everyone huddled around. :banghead:

Next up for the car, well it wont have much use at all over the coming months so ive bought a posh ctek charger for it (ill upload pics when the postman gets a move on)
It will have a full suspension overhaul ready for next years track season. Thinking grp'n's all round, new beam with bigger arb and possibly bigger bars. I'd love a coilover conversion and AST top mounts but i wont be buying new from AST, hopefully some will come up second hand


An oil cooler and temp/pressure gauge will be fitted and braided fuel and brake lines to finish the interior off.
That should be enough for the winter, as i'm supposed to be moving out and having two holidays next year so money will be tight.






However i do really want a carbon roof........... Watch this space
