Yeah it was an experience driving to the mot station and back, not driven it for 7 months. So happy that it flew through with only an advisory i knew about anyway.
Feels like a full on racekor compared to the 1ltr Yaris iv'e been using. Really surprised me how light the steering was at speed, dunno if that's a good thing yet.

I won't be taking it out at all really till the conversion, cant afford to break something. But hold tight as it really won't be long now till the new lump is screaming.

Thanks mate, took it out for a good run yesterday and it's just as fun as i remember. Needs some decent tyres asap though. The current ones will not handle the new engine. Thinking Federal RSR's

Rayleigh, Essex. 2.5 hours each way approx. Bloody boring drive though, straight up to m25 through hindhead tunnel, then all the way round to junction 29.
It's worth it to go to a good tuner imo.

So Colin set to work on the car Wednesday afternoon. By the end of the day the engine, box and wiring loom were out. Now it's ready for shot blasting. No going back now.

Now i'm confused. Do i know you? Or more to the point... do you know me?

EDIT - A little bit of snooping and i now know. Hi Paul lol.
Yeah the bonus came in handy

Well at end of play yesterday this is how she looked;

It's weird seeing it in that state but it's got to be done. All jet washed and ready to go to the bodyshop Monday.
Orignally we thought it was in a good state but after taking everything out there's a fair bit of rot in the bay (it is 15 years old!) so the bodyshop will have alot more to do, which means more money but like i said to Colin if it's got rust then i can't just leave it.

Colin has also been busy buying parts for it too. Omex race spec loom, and a Helix 6 paddle clutch to name a few. He has already assembled the loom ready to plug straight in when it comes back.
Can't wait to see a picture of it after shot blasting/spraying.

Currently just waiting on the quote from the bodyshop to fix the rot and spray the bay, as we think it will go over budget due to the work involved. Can't see me leaving it though.

Well for those who don't have me on facebook:

So glad i had this done now. After a few weeks waiting for it to be welded and then sprayed. Colin and the guys got it back today, looking very nice indeed.

Spoke to Colin an hour ago and he should be able to get the satchshift fitted tomorrow and engine bolted in place.

Should come together quickly now.

Originally i wanted it back this weekend but it's alot to expect of someone in a week. Colin has assured me it will be done before french car show.

Also i have been accepted into the 'Built not Bought' Themed paddock at FCS so i shall be mixing it with the pro's in the center of the show.

Untill next time.....

Little update,
While the car is away I've bought a new rear light (finally as the old one had been cracked for some time!)
New inner wing bolts from pro-bolt (countersunk bolts and washers) and got my Paddock pass printed. Getting excited now.

Sooooo close now.
End of play today and everything is all back together, car has fluids and runs fine, Colin says the clutch is lovely too.

Colin has kept me informed every step of the way, just a few bit's to tidy up now (tidy dash loom, put passenger seat back in, and a good clean!)

Then mapping as soon as the dyno is free!

Only issue is my carbon cam cover doesn't fit but I've said to leave that and i can fiddle with it and chop it about once it's back with me, possibly make some sort of bracket to hold it on?
Also i needed a slightly different fitting for my breather filter but all very minimal.

Such a cracking build too, really looks the part.

Amazing thread. All my Pals had VTR's when we were 18, I couldnt afford one :(

Im guessing you work (or worked) for Sainsburys?

Will be back next week presuming i can get off work.
Colin got some mapping today but my car decided against it and dropped it's oil over the dyno:

Temp sensor wasn't fully in LOL
More to come tomorrow, Colin has said that it starts to struggle over 7.5rpm and is probably due to an exhaust restriction. Not too bothered to be honest as it's very trial and error with exhausts, maybe try a few different options in 2014, doubt ill notice it on the road.

No figure yet, Colin has said the inlet temps were very hot so will make a few more bhp with colder temps. Not going BHP hunting though, if i was it would have a turbo, it's about how it drives and sounds mainly. Which i'm told is awesome :D

It never goes. I walk to work everyday.
Took it ages ago when it wasn't this nice and someone put a trolley into the back and cracked the light / dented the boot. I've walked ever since.

You clearly have a poor Team leader/department colleagues under you ;) Get some coaching and some CPR's done! Then get them Labour matched and multi skilled ;)

Edit: Unless of course you get paid for youre 12 hour shifts, in which case fair play!

Bloody love this, can't wait to see it back to being "finished".

Although we both know it'll be in bits again in 2 months when you have another idea.

No it's my managment team that can't cope without us! it's not hard to get paid 'accuratly' when your're signing your own pay sheets ;)

Already have a list to be done by the end of the year:

Tyres
New steering wheel
Stud and nut conversion / spacers
Rear beam
Oil temp gauge
Rollcage
Briaded fuel and brake lines inside the car.

And have also priced up a forged bottom end, new cam and more headwork.

Don't think i'll ever stop.
