TR5 is where its at, or put a 5/6 engine into a 4(not 4a) and you'll have alot of fin with a live axle!

Edit, just seen its got an RTR front arb kit, i helped the development of that on my apprenticeship!

As in Revington? Do you have an idea how much these engines will make on triple webers?

Yep.

The most we ever had from one was circa 210. but they have a pretty ropey rolling road, so i'd never trust the readouts lol. the webbers arent really the best, ideally you'd run it on EFI and jenvey's. biggest restriction on them as standard believe it or not is actually the wheel arch. When we built them up we used to either cut it out or 'bent it' to allow more airflow. we did see a gain of 7bhp on one as it meant we could allow more fuelling.

TR6. I have one.

Althouh it looks nothing like that lol Weren't the Yank models de-tuned to meet silly Californian regs? And carbs instead of 'PI'? Mines a '72 150 bhp model with o/d. Can't wait till I've got room to start restoring her!

Ths is beautiful

lol, I never said they were "beautiful" did I. I just think there are far more elegant British sports cars out there than that thing.

I'm pulling your pisser.... But you're right. The TR6 is one of the few soft-top motors that you can drive and still call yourself a man. Elegant it 'aint.

Top one's a bit much for my tastes tbh.

My uncle's got a TR6, the straight through pipes on it sound absolutely amazing

Also the black one on the original post is proper moody, hate the exhaust though....

Yeh, its why not many got sold out there due to the lack of performance and americans wern't keen on the looks, the 7 was designed entirely for the american market. and unfortunatly it flopped which pretty much killed triumph in the day.

In all, 94,619 TRs were built, of which 86,249 found homes overseas (built to US Spec), only 8,370 being sold in the UK.

The TR7 sold more than the TR6.... a lot more. But it was very unreliable, had quality issues and was dropped as part of a trimming down execise by BL in the early 80's. Some people say tha TR7/8 was ahead of it's time, but personally I think the 6 was the last of the proper Triumphs.

yeh thats the general concensus. i hated 7's when i was working there. hideous things to work on. especaily those with the twin cam! best ones i worked on would be the dolly's and the gt6's. guy i worked with had a mint gt6 mk1..
