proven 182 manifold gain

  RSTUNER'ED-C&B'ED RS-1
Hi All,

There numerous topics on this but have any of you guys dyno tested the gain of this swap?

It is surely an expensive mod but would it worth that hassle?

Thx

From reading other posts people were getting around the 190bhp mark on a RR from:

182 Manifold
Breathing mods (cat back, good CAF/filter)
Remap
Matched inlets

You wont see any/little gains unless you custom remap for the mods and get it all set up.

15bhp at the fly from 182manifold , sports cat , prospeed exhaust upgrade , inlets matched and remap .

so ......i'd say NO too .:(

the 421 mainfold is better for mid range rather than top end... if you want a high bhp figure then you should stick with the 172 mainfold as that is designed for top end bhp.

thanks for the replies

I already did most of the basic N/A mods to my car including

Colombo cams
port match
de-cat
custom re-map

I was thinking about getting one of these 182 manifolds after seeing that I think I should save my money for something else.

Thanks all

What power are you running after your last Henk-download ? Round 200- ?

From PA logs around 124 kw ATW and 200 Nm ATW. Not RR'd yet.

I am in the same predictment...

Ive got a 172 de-cat and a 182 manifold sat in my garage!

Just not sure weather its worth the hassle of fitting the manifold for the "minimal" gains?

It's not all about the "minimal" bhp gain.

It's about the higher touque figure gained in the low to mid range which will help. Instead of high end power and being sluggish low down you are getting a much smoother power band and a lot better drivability round town.

As mine is a track car, i can say getting on the power coming out of corners is much better now since the 182 mani was fitted.

A worthwile mod in my eyes

This is a short vid of mine with a low limiter (pulls hard all the way through to 120 now) in 4th/ 5th gear from just under 90 to just under 130. 90-110 in about 5 secs and even when I change early to 5th it seems to still pull ok. This is with a 182 mani/bmc induction decat and exhaust with a chipwizards remap.

And I totally agree with John...mine has 144ftlb at 2500rpm..then peaks at 175ftlb. Driving around town is fantastic as you can pretty much potter along in 4th or 5th and still pull well enough at low speeds

I totall argee anything under 3K ish in these cars feels shocking compared to the top end power.... hopefully over the next few weeks that shall be taken care of with remap and inlet work, just not sure weather to fit the de-cat or manifold though?

What kind of cat/de-cat set up do you have with the 182 manifold Chris?

My 'decat' is basically a piece of pipe welded in place of the cat...had it on my 172 mani and now on my 182 mani.
