PS3 Delivered!

Your right, but from what I have heard its going to be around the same price as the PS3?.

  • The Elite will cost $479 and will be sold alongside Premium and Core packs.
  • Eventually, a white version of the Elite will replace Xbox 360 Premium packs. Presumably, this will happen shortly after the Elite is sold out. Once this happens, Premiums will include the 120 GB HDD and HDMI.
Thats about £250 quid
in the US maybe, with VAT and the premium we always pay you are looking at more like £299-325 probably.

and still no wifi and no hd movies.

Its selling for same as the premium because its going to replace the premium once the limited run black consoles have sold out

Rather have this than a ps3 :rasp:

i'm a becks man for sure!

You can get the HD DVD add on for £99, and why pay £59.99 for a Wi Fi adaptor when you can get a ethernet patch cable for £6 (admittidly, not as flash as Wi Fi but does the job!). I've also seen the premium packs for as little as £240 so that knocks off about £127 off the above. In reality, you can get a similarly specc'd 360 for much less than the PS3!
i couldn't use an ethernet cable to over the other side of my flat and i'm sure a lot of people are in a similar situation, then theres still the lack of HDMI and crappy small 12gb hdd that the 360 gets!

True and I'll admit a patch cable isnt as good as Wi Fi! Still, how much HDD space does a console need? I've never used anymore than 2gb! HDMI is really a moot point. I've yet to see a major difference between HDMI and composite on hi def signals.

lol, i was talking to sneeks earlier and he was saying to me that:

Thos prices are not 1 year old, game.co.uk are charging those prices as of todays date which means people out there will pay it. Many other retailers are also still charging the same.

As for the hdd space been unnecessary, I've ran out of space over and over on the 360 when downloading game demos etc so I'll definately enjoy the extra space.

wifi is essential to some, cheap £240 deals are rare and Live will cost most people £20 per year minimum if they shop around. The equivalent 360 cannot be bought far cheaper as Williams claims.

Anyway, i pretty much agree and also hit my hdd limit constantly, i download game demos before i buy to see if i really should spend £40 on a game. I can't understand why a 20gb hdd has only 12 usable its crazy!

Oh and I can't wait for my ps3 tomorrow, 60gb of pure pleasure to play with ;)

LMAO, what are you on about, if you look at the actual size available to the user and its 12gb mate and I am constantly having to delete stuff, don't you ever download demos, they are normally about 1gb each!!!!

ive filled my 360 hard drive..20gig is plop.
I guess if your after a ps3 for its blueray stuff then its a good buy.
If your just after a good games console £420 is out of the price range of most.
Does the ps3 have online play?

Lol yes it can! And if you buy the whole lot (console, wi fi, HD dvd etc) in one go you can get all manner of deals in the high st even from the main High St stores, you don't even really need to shop around to get a good deal!!! The only issue I found is the shortage of HD DVD drives but that shouldnt be an issue for long.

However, I actually think the PS3 is a good deal if you are into movies and games if you compare the price of actual standalone BD units, I just despute the fact the equivalent 360 pack would be more expensive.

I am having to delete loads of Demos's from my 360 and with TV programmes soon to be downloaded from the Marketplace (a full SouthPark episode was available the other day) . We are going to need the xtra space. Apparently they are selling the 120gb hdd serperately also. God knows how much thats going to cost?.

TBH by the time you have done, its deffo going to be as much if not more than the total price of the PS3?.

can you not just plug an external hd into the 360 to save progarmmes on?

buy a laptop hard drive format it to fat32 and you can use that in your hdd cradle just need to copy the files across from your 360 20gb hard drive.

Not hard to do :approve:

I wouldn't believe everything you read in the media/on cliosport. Sony is a huge multi-national company and I have great trust in them. :)

I had one on order to collect at midnight but can't be bothered.

Sony have really screwed up IMHO people don't seem at all bothered about the PS3.

:(
you're right, nobody is bothered, the police have only not allowed aby other shop in london to open up at midnight except one because of the amount of people there is going to be!

There are lots of bothered people, its just this time everyone who wants one can get one for a change so there are not as many reports of there being no stock for months, for once sony have done the right thing and planned a launch well!

right so that shows 13.7gb, thats a lot closer to my 12 than your 20!!!!!!!!

I have been reading that it only has 12 gb usable as the other 8gb is reserved for backwards compatibility, so everyone is complaining about the ps3 compatibility being software now, bet it doesn't take up 40% of its hdd space!

yeh they are saying roughly the same as the ps3, so that still doesnt mean nothing. and it still doesnt have upgraded internals to match the ps3. what can you use 120GB on a games console? and it still wont be true 1080p. + more no WIFI etc. im a huge 360 fan, i would still take the 360 over the ps3 anyday.

360 already has 1080p support nowadays was a firmware update and a lot of the new games already support 1080p now

that isnt true 1080p its upscaled.

£250 is a staight conversion, and we know life isnt that easy. otherwise we would be paying around 350 for the ps3. i would imagine it would easily be 300++

I have both the 360 and a PS3... IMO the xbox is a better machine, PS3 skips the odd frame on games especially Call of Duty 3 (not played this but read on a few sites)

Also online is alot better with 360 and the graphics are neither here or there, just remember though the 360 will always be 1 stage ahead and PS3 will have alot of catching up.

I'm not biased but if i was looking to get 1 or the other i have to say i would tell people get a 360 premium and pay the extra on some great games.

Nobody knows who will win the blu-ray or hd-dvd battle yet but alot of backing hd-dvd.

All in all i will prb enjoy the PS3 but at the mo 360 rules soley it's ahead by a long way of PS3 and the game catologue is better.

well the most annoying thing for me is that the 360 scratches discs, they could of solved that problem so easily.

as for the hd vs blu-ray battle we wotn know the result of that for 5+ years untill it becomes widely used.

360 will have the better games as its been out longer, ps3 only released today in europe.

Also it's known that PS3 does have some frame rate problems, i've not noticed this yet but barely used it. To be honest there is alot of hype over a machine that doesn't out perform something available half the price.

F1 is ok, looks good but pretty boring to play aswell.

Only time will tell which is better but for the time being 360 is miles ahead, granted it's because it has been out alot longer.

Don't get me wrong it's a good console but i did expect a bit more.

Every major US film company except one is backing Blu-ray over HD-DVD and it is outselling HD-DVD in the shops significantly. The PS2 lasted us 7 years so I think with PS3 has a lot to come and will be the significant leader in the long run.
