Early development issues.. they sell that stuff for the xbox 360 too and ive never had it crash because of overheating.. they are just gimmicks.

I know there have been a few 360's that had heat issues but in the grand scale of things the problem was minimal.

The one for the 360 is a bad move. It sits between the power supply and the console, the 360 already has high power requirements as it is so attaching a 2 or 3 high rpm fans is a bad move.

I've never had heat issues with mine.

The PS3 dev kits have lots of very fast small fans in them, making them louder than any Dell server. Anyone who's heard a Dell 2850 or the like start up and test it's fans knows just how loud I mean.

sh*t ^^ that's loud. I had a Dell 2850 on my desk in the open office, didn't go down too well.

Lee you could put 10 extra fans in there, it would still run fine.

What amazes me is yes. The xbox came out with problems of overheating.

But they continue to release them now ??? All it takes are better fans, not exactly a miricle it's asking for...

Since I have plugged my Nyko cooler on the 360, it's been as good as gold. But I'm on the phone to XBox now asking them why I need such a device to make a £300 next gen tool work properly.....

haha Dair.

Mine just overheats and freezes, no 3 red leds.

So I haven't gone down the road of replacing it with the hope no damage has been done.

But the facts speak for themselves.

EVERYONE I know, has had their 360 crash a couple of times. Each of which, I would hazard a guess is due to overheating. Since I fitted that extractor fan to the back, it has been good as gold. Same results for others I know.

Which brings me back to, Why the f%£*ing hell do I have to buy extra fans for this thing ??

It's such a panzies toy, the original XBox was like a german tank, I have recently dropped it and even thrown boots at it, keeps going like a trooper, the 360.... I feel like if I sneeze I might block one of the fans and it will overheat again.. Microsoft have done us proud......

Yeah I can sympathise with that.

Ask Ang what a pair of HP DL380's sound like running a total of 10 hard drives, 16 fans and 4 power supplies between them sounds like! Hehe! ;)

My new replacement 360 (build - June 06) freezed on PGR3 the other night. Think thats how my problems started on my original one before it completely gave up.

Does anyone know the score with warrantys ? My original was bought in Dec 05, does that mean my replacement will still end Dec 06 ?? Cant find anything on the MS site with regards to warranty / extended warranty etc..
