Putting HID's on my 172 cup

  BMW M3
I want to put xenons in my my 2002 172 cup. Is this leagel because its doesnt have that normal dome shaped bulb thing that is standard on the 172... Also could i get some head lights from a 172 and fit them on my cup? One more question, what sort of bulbs are they in the 172 cup and are they the same as the standard 172? Ta,

If you buy just an HID kit and fit them they're not legal no. You can fit the ones off a normal 172 yes, but technically they're still not legal as you wouldn't have washers or self levellers.

Bulbs are different in both, the headlight bulb you need for yours is H7 :)

There is a place on the net call xenonshop.co.uk who do very good HID kits and the closest xenon looking H7 bulb iv ever come across for non xenon models.

thanks! whats the 182 bulb? I cant decide if i should get some... do they look good n the cup without the dome thing?

Its a standard H7 bulb, is the gas inside that burns that makes the difference. I had then on my old 1.2 and everybody said they looked good, really close to the real thing, only £12 i think too, or just go for a 6000kw xenon unit, they arnt too blue that they will get you a tug.

If you want an HID kit drop me a PM and I'll do you a very good price on a set of H7's.

In you headlights strictly speaking they will not be legal. However, as long as you are sensible and check your beam alignment then it is very unlikely that you will get any trouble from the police about them. If you want them to look as standard as possible I would recommend going for them in a 4.3k colour, which also provides the best light output.

If you have any questions just drop me a PM.

I got my H7's from this man for my 1.2 and still really happy with the results, ive got the 6k and they give off good light and have the bluey tinge which imo looks better than 4300k ones. Ive been pulled over by police twice since having them for speeding and drink driving checks, not once have my lights been mentioned or caused any issues.

Get them, you know you want to...even if they are a little hard to fit !
