Just browsing Youtube and sat watching vids from Combe.

I can honestly say, in my 50+ visits to the circuit, EVERY SINGLE time, someone has crashed at Quarry Corner.

Her's a few examples. (Some nasty ones at the end!!)

The Evo is piss funny!!

Must admit, I've never seen a corner where so many people manage to lose it. Surely they should do something like increase the run off?

I've got to say after having track tuition at combe its no surprise people are going off there, driving as they would down their local B road but that corner carry's a lot of speed, especially if you dont get the right braking points, the cossie hurt, the evo hurt even more

And how lucky was the guy at the end that nearly got wiped out by that z3m Coupe?

lol its a funny corner, there is like a brow just before it where alot of people get caught out, car goes light they lift off soon as all the weight is back on they touch the brakes get a massive weight shift and back end comes round... if you get that right people just use the wrong brake points and turn in spots and again arse comes round then they panick and slide off...

tbh i would think a deep gravel trap would be better at stopping cars as soon as you touch the grass no matter what you do your either getting massively close to or you will hit the tyre wall...

its a fun circuit its just people give it billy big balls and then get to quarry and it all goes tits up... the twice i have driven it i always take quarry slow lol!

and evo understeer is massive in that car lol! must of seen 20+ cars crash at coombe!

last crash i saw there was near merlin motorsports shop.... was a fast ford day i was down there getting some earls fittings, saph cossy comes off track to park up, he booted it slid the arse round then skidded on dust straight in to an open door of an original gt40 LOL! gt40 driver was pissed!

Ahh right, so Jim Cook does finally get round to editing videos. So that video was from 2007 might get to see my Clio going round Quarry Corner one day in 2013 lol ;)

I think it's more to do with those Action Days and the brainless idiots that attend them. I haven't seen any crashes at quarry myself, normally it's on the last corner as it requires a bit of commitment with no run off.

Some posted this video a couple of weeks ago, I was shocked tbh.

+1 to what Rob says. It's all about the weapons that attend the Action Days. lol.

Great corner though, from a spectator's viewpoint!

So in that last bit where that sports car gets abliterated what happened there? Does the guy who hit it pay or is it a case of your on track and you knew the risks? Never done a track day so it's a serious question.

I doubt either had track day insurance, so f*ck knows what happened TBH.

They might've settled it Gypsy-style with a bare knuckle fight.

Is there not like a un written rule of you hit some 1 you pay? Cos there was another video of a evo hitting an m3 coming out of the pits and I was wondering the same then.

Yeah, at Spa?

One bloke was English, the chap in the M3 was German. So I bet that was an interesting one!

Not sure evo was silver I think and had zero car control what so ever. Lol if I was the m3 driver I'd be pissed. I'll do some tinternet searching and see if I find a rule.

I've been going to Combe since i was a young child, way before the high fencing was up at Quarry too - you can see why they added it, i recall someone being hit by a tyre, whoops.

A good friend of has done alot of teaching at Combe & Thruxton, knows combe off the back of his hand - he won't attend action days as he says the driving standard scares him!! It's him that will take me out there for my first time, not on an action day though, he says he fears for his life ;) haha :)

Quarry Corner has seem some great crashes though! There was on you could find on YouTube of a FF1600 race in 2009, complete mess! Above friend avoided it, just, by cutting the corner & driving across the grass with a few others!

Well done a search and if someone crashes into your car then they don't have to pay a penny it's you who is responsible. Same if you smash a 500 quid car into a Ferrari. I've seen peoples driving at 30 so I doubt I'll ever take my own car on track.

Action days = r****d central. Seen some accidents that look more like a scene out of the blues brothers or smokey and the bandit. I do wonder how some of the cars get let out on track, aside from the knobs driving them I've seen plenty that look like mot failures out there.

As far as I'm aware track day insurance covers you and your car only, if you hit someone they cant claim off your insurance

I think its only between £25-40 a day, but well worth it if you've got something worth more than £1k

See Castle Combe is the nearest circuit to me and I'm desperate to get my car on track but that corner just really put me off LOL. I will get it done eventually though (NOT on an action day though, f**k that).

Someone i know in his RX-7 got swiped of the track at combe by a Chavalier a few years ago. It turned him do-lally in the head & he rebuilt it & sprayed it fushia... :clown:

IIRC isn't that the last weekend of this month? I remember it being when I can't do even though I really want to.

Is there a Renault track 'company'? Like Mazda on Track (MOT), Honda on Track (HOT). It would be Renault on Track (ROT) Quite apt for a Frenchy haha :D

OH should be joining a couple of HOT days in the Spring. One being at Combe i'm sure

It is an okay corner, it you just need to show it some respect, people just can't drive. The amount of tossers that go on during the Action Day's is ridiculous, the marshall's should chuck them out. There's always some c**t in a Sierra or similar old shitty Ford, and some old 3 series that drive like t***s.
