Question about k4j and k4m

Car  ph2 172
Hi, been searching the internet and the forum and found some info that the k4j and k4m are the same just the stroke is different. Is it the pistons and crank that cause the k4m to have an extra 200cc over the k4j ? Or is the cylinder block different too?
Thanks
James

Thanks for a speedy reply.
Can you use the pistons and crank from a M and bolt them into a J? I assume you need a remap to get it working.

a LOT easier to just get a complete 1.6

Unfortunately the ECU's aren't cross compatible, so you can't flash a 1.6 map onto a 1.4 ECU. You need to get a full 1.6 loom and ECU, and have the immobilser code unlocked

Insurance don't like me fitting a 1.6, however they dont mind me increasing the the cc by 200. Could I not get the 1.4 ecu remapped or use a piggy back ?

both look pretty much identical do they not? why tell lol

however, after doing quite a few miles in a 1.6 16v they are slow and boring would be ok if they had a decent rev range on them.

Id rather throw some cash at a 1.6 if its as easy as changing the pistons, crank and ecu. Just need to know if its possible ?

stick the 1.6 in, tell them you modded a 1.4 to 1.6 spec. Exact same end result, with less messing about
