question concerning internals of a maxogen

  phase 1 172
i am curious to what the filter looks like within the maxogen

is it a round or triangula cone? and is it cotton or foam?

reason i ask is i`m converting my standard box to a simila set up and

a) not sure what panel filter to go for
b) would like to get it as similar set up to a maxogen

cheers

much appreciated, is the ITG cotton or foam, alot of people seem to go for it but was wondering what the difference between green or K&N?

ha ha nice one!

have you connected up the CAF john or left a gap to allow abit of noise?

fair enough, you may want to take the 2 funnels off the existing caf and place them inside the 2 holes protuding out of the phase 1 air box

Its a big f**k off foam induction kit looking filter. It has to be squeezed into the carbon fibre airbox ;)

A maxogen filter is made up of different grades of foam. On the outside it has about 5-10 mm layer of tightly packet foam in hexagon shapes. Inside the filter it has a larger more spaced out foam hexagons. I will try to get a picture.

For the ITG replacement panel filter for the 172 phase 1, there are about three layers of tightly packed foam around a wire mesh, to keep its shape. The foam is more restrictive but you get better protection against dirt and grit.

A ITG panel filter in a 172 phase 1 airbox will give similar gains to a maxogen... I have owned both. :)

  Lots of Alfas
Rich if you have a quick look in the guides section Ive made a guide to fitting a ITG and replacing the standard feeds to behind the bumper vent.

Here's a pic of the filter from a maxogen kit, the filter on the inside is spaced out foam but round the outside it has about 10mm of dense foam
