Question

My mates just got a Saxo 1.4i but its only 8v. He reckons his car would beat mine both on a dead straight and just generally on a road. Not sure how much of a difference the 16v will make. Would i stand a chance?

what size are those billabongs? 1.2?

if its a 1.4 16v i wouldnt have thought he would be able to, but a 1.2 16v, probably evenly matched, but then im guessing now!!!

I dunno, so why dont you go out and tell him to put his £ where his mouth is? Then you can take his money and gloat! or run and hide if you lose.

:)

Itll probably be neck and neck. One of my mates has a 1.2 16v Clio and another has a 1.4 8v saxo and theyve always said their neck and neck.

Thats what it is, 1.2 16v vs 1.4 8v. His has a i after the 1.4 does that make a difference? I will try and have a go but i dont want to be to mouthy, my mates have all said i dont have a chance so i dont want to say yeah i do cause if i get beat i will have to eat a lot of humble pie. Where as saying "oh yeah youll win but i may as well have a go" and we stay neck and neck makes me look good. lol

The i just stands for injection the same as yours has. Neither of you will pull away unless someones driving is cosiderably better than the others.

a while ago manufactures used 16v technology to gain more power but a lot of the time nowadays they use it to cut emission outputs instead so youve probably both got around the same bhp.id say it would be a close match.call his bluff if i was you.
