  53 Clio's & counting

Not too bad for 120bhp I don't think

Modifications are B&C rear exhaust box and a K&N

Ah the vvt lump in the lotus isn't as prone for it tbh - I was only taking a poke at you as you were knobbing the speedo ;) I've had a couple in mine on the A3, they're not great in a straightline no, but they've got all the power they need!

0-60 is high 5's and the ton is anywhere between 16-18 secs, so yes once rolling (read above 80) a 172 would be about the same - but then what do you expect it has 120 bhp lol.

It is fantastic on track, but even more so on A and B roads - it just soaks up the bumps - love it.

With regards to 1/4, a stock Elise will run under 14.3, so a little quicker than a stock 172 but not really far off.

Oh, and 91k with no HGF - that is a lot more talked about than actually happens - not saying it doesnt but its kinda an old running joke the K and HGF lol.

I know what you mean its not super quick ,but on any road it is quicker than my Clio ever was - but it is a super hard car to drive, you cant just jump into it and ring its neck like a 172, you need to build up and learn it.

As in 'oh my, that's quick!'

Cheers mate :)

I really like it, looks like the power is just where you want it for fast road driving or track. It's not a top speed car, it's just looks awesome fun.

S1 are approc 730 matey, S2's are low 900's due to the extra bits and pieces they have like air con, more speakers, a brake servo lol, heaver clams etc etc.

Bear in mind though the early S2's had the same engine as mine (Well with 2 more bhp) but the later ones had decent power, and the Toyota engined ones (2005 on) were very pokey

Very nice... I'll certainly be considering an Elise or VX (no badge snobbery here;)) as my next car!!

Is it me or does the speedo appear to jump from 0-20ish?!

Caught a bit of wheel spin when I started mate, so the speedo jumped a little :)

VX is a great car, even better when you stick some 16's on the front instead of the 17s as standard so iv been told

EDIT- I did consider a VX when I was looking, but the S1 is one of my dream cars, and although I could have got a newer VX for the money I paid, I just adore the S1 - after driving mine then a VX, the Vx feels luxurious lol.

Can't get much more back to basics fun than the S1

^ Thought as much... Even so, looks fairly swift off the mark and no doubt an absolute hoot to drive. Must be on par with the clio or better based upon the smiles:miles ratio :)

Yup - I had my 172 for 5 years and over 50,000 miles, went from standard to 193 bhp on itb's and it was amazing fun - but the Elise really up's the fun factor many times over.

Bear in mind im still far from knowing how to drive it properly - Its good learning as you go sort of thing

Elise will make a Clio (or any normal road car for that matter) feel like a jalopy with steering arms made from sherbet dib-dab sticks. then again you can get in & out of a Clio. Not what Id class as comparable cars.

So true Roy, but the comparison was bound to happen on here lol.
