Quick exhaust question, 182!!?

I have just had an aftermarket backboxes fitted to my car by MIJ performance in Walsall.
It is excellent quality and looks and sounds the biz but i cant help thinkn it feels a tad slower.
Could aftermarket back boxes make it slower? The guy there says not and if anything although the look smaller they will be less restrictive than original :s

i forgot to say, they "look" alot smaller than the standard backboxes.
I shall post pics tomorow.

If the bore pipe (the down pipe from the manifold) is smaller than 2 inches then yeah it would slow it down. But I reckon it'll be at least 2.25 inch, so just ley the system bed in. Noise must be better???

Renault would have spent a fair wedge on testing that exhaust and you think a after-market wont affect performance, as 205 owners know, factory fit is hard to beat even tho they restrict noise.

Exhaust flow characteristics are very complicated.

After market exhaust, looking at 2-4bhp, if more, show me a graph from a rolling road day..

I had a twin exit exhaust on my 182 done by MIJ which had a small bore approx 2". It did not work very well.

I went there again to get another one done as price and quality seemed good. I specced it this time though with single backbox and 2.5 inch bore throughout. The car felt noticeably better especially mid range.

No, never owned one unfortunatly but ive driven a fair few inc a proper 205 challenge car. Most fun ive ever had driving a car!

I had marks old one and was quite impressed.

Maz has just had a new magnex (warranty) and its taken a few weeks for ti to settle down and for the car to feel as sharp again.
