quick help required

Steering rack pinch bolt.

I've slackened the nut. But the bolt head on the other side seems to be completely round (i think)

Does the pinch bolt need to be removed or slackened to separate column and rack?

worked out i can remove it, it seems to have a locating tag on the bottom on the bolt head. does it need to be removed?
