Quick insurance question!

The Boosh!

My policy runs out on the 24th April and my insurance company only insure cars TPFT.

I'm getting a 182 mid april.

I don't want to transfer insurance over or freeze the policy as they will only do it TPFT. i don't want to be driving a 6k car TPFT and for the sake of a few weeks not really worth messing about like that.

If i sold my car (the 1.2) to a mate say NOW, would i be able to just let my policy run on the car until it runs out so i get my NCB and my mate get insured on it?
OR
would i need to wait while 24th April until i can sell my car?

Hope i'm being clear enough. Thanks Luke.

You can't have an insurance policy for a car that you've just sold ( in theory ) . I understand what your trying to say , i did exactly the same , sold my car on the Monday bought a new one on the Friday and informed my insurance company of the change of car . From now until the 24th of April is a bit too long though imo . It might cause problems for your mate trying to insure the car he buys off you if it already has an insurance policy in your name .

Technically , yeah . Legally i'm not sure . Like i said . It might cause problems for the new owner of your old car if it flags up on some insurance database that it's already covered by your insurance policy .

I don't think it's legal to have two separate insurance policies for the same car .

Could you not get your mates name put on your insurance policy up until the 24th of April ?? Even though he'll actually be the new owner . At least that way your policy continues , as you want it to for your NCB and your mate can drive the car legally .

Edit : I think i've just contradicted myself slightly lol .
