If I buy a o2 iPhone 3g from eBay is it easy to get it unlocked to work on my t mobile sim?

Yes it does.
You can get PAYG O2 sims from newsagents for 99p, so buy one of them, shove £15 of credit on it then fill out the form.


Atleast I think that's all you have to do

is o2 the only place i can get it unlocked, its just i dont want to have to wait upto 14 days for them to unlock it.

can i take it to a local mobile phone shop and they will unlock it?

i dont mind paying the £15 credit for o2 its just the wait i dont want.

No, a local place can't unlock it.

Depends what firmware its running

If its 3.1.1 or 3.1.2 it should be able to be unlocked via cydia or similar.

I paid £150 for one on eBay for my Dad.

Turns out it has a logic board fault that means audio is an intermittent 'feature'

Good old eBay.

Will be seeking a refund through PayPal, but it's a ball-ache nonetheless.
