quick question on engine coolant?

what actually goes in the coolant pot... is it water or 50-50 water and antifreeze...?
also, mine has gone all green and mucky, how do u clean it, is tehre a drain plug like you drain oil out of the bottom of the car or do u jus grab a massive syringe and suck the stuff out and top it up?
soz for asking a simple quesiton but its baffled me today?!

what car do you have? its usually done by unclipping the lowest hose I think but theres more too it since you need to bleed air from the system afterwards.

my engine is a dci 80, 2002.
the coolant is that big white circular thing which is at the back, next to the washer fluid...
damn, i topped it up with water jus the other day... should i drain it out and replace it with this concentrate stuff?

It is bizarre, but ethylene glycol has to be diluted in a ratio of 6 parts anti-freeze to 4 parts water. (Two parts anti-freeze to 1 part water produces almost as good a result.) Pure anti-freeze only has a freezing point 10C below water's. But when you dilute it with water in the correct ratio that lowers its freezing point to -34C (about -70F). I don't know why they don't sell it that way diluted correctly. It'd save a lot of confusion.

you shouldnt be using antifreeze. you should be using coolant. they are different things. go and ask you friendly renault dealer.
