Quick question, when up dating to mk2 ph2 rear lights on a mk2 ph1..

Do you have two rear fog lights ??

I did mine earlier on (mk2 ph 1) the left side had three bulbs on the holder, but the new one (for the phase 2 lights) had four, it's all wired up correctly but it doesn't work:S

I looked in the manual as I thought that a fuse might have blown & it just said - "rear fog light"

Any one lese have this ?? I'd like them both to work, but I don't see how thats possible :S

  ?
I have exactly the same problem mate! I have the space and wiring, also upgraded from mk2 ph1 to mk2 ph2 rear lights. But only one rear fog light works!

^ ditto that. only my flare works on the drivers side for me. swapped the bulbs over but still dont work so i just assumed my car was shagged.

I don't get it tbh, all of the wiring is there, the bulbs there too, I guess there is no current to it ?

Well actually I checked & there wasn't, seems silly to me.

  ?
Oops sorry. I also checked current and nothing there, i dunno how i forgot! lmao... what Im really asking is... is there no way of altering the wiring to make it work?!

I've left the bulb in for now as it looks odd without it in there, but come mot time i'll remove it, because if it's there it has to work.

I might decide to wire up though so it works, if I can be asked to do it lol.

should be an easy job to route a live link wire along the boot seem and into the cluster.

If someone decides to do this could they please post a guide up? As id very much like to do it for mine.

It has the wiring for the fog light, as there are six wires, just no live feed to them:S

I'll probably look at wiring it up so it works.
I'd say to anyone with mk2 ph1 one rear lights, take them off & get the later ones (mk2 ph2) they look sooo much better & they are cheap :D

Bumpage, any one wired the fog on the left up from the six wires that are there ?? It seems weird that the ones for the fog aren't live.

Fubar - what did you do mate.

I'm not going to run a wire in from the other side etc.

There is on a phase 2 mk1 - but i've fitted the later lights on (phase 2's) they have two rear fogs.
The wiring is identical both sides - but the left ones wires aren't live for the fog.

ya did mine like a million years ago just lived with the one fog lol
Its not like your gonna see it anyway! How often do you drive in fog?

Lol true, it'll just look crap with only one on in the fog. It also looks pap without the bulb in on the left hand side (if the buls in there it has to work) so it looks like i'll be whipping in out come mot time.

PM replied to... i gave up trying to figure it out and stuck with 1 fog. My old car had both bulbs in for 2 years and went through MOT fine also.

If its really cheesing you off you could cut the wires on the side thats not working and run some extra wire from the working side under the boot plastic thingy and connect em up that way...

i also had this problem. so are you saying that if i take the fog light that doesnt work out for the MOT it will pass? also for those of you ph1 people who have put the ph2 lights on, are the brake lights on the top bulbs rather than at the bottom? as they are for mine and are a tad bright!

^
I don't really understand all that tbh:S

If you have fitted phase 2 rears your fog light will be at the top, your brake & rear lights will be at the bottom, it's a double bulb (got two elements in it) rather than just one.

I'm saying that if you have phase 2 rears fitted on a phase 1 and you have the left fog light bulb fitted, it must work for the mot.
Although as above their cars have passed regardless of it working or not (it just depends on how strict your mot dude is)

Well i didnt understand it either, and thats how it is unless i start fiddling with the wiring which is a pain in the derriere! Bloody cars!
