quicksilver Vs Clio 1.216V

Hey

I have just bought a clio 16V and I am hoping my mate quicksilver 206 isnt gonna thrash me.

Anyone got any ideas on what they are like?

Also does anyone know where i can get the clio V6 bodykit from INCL Arches etc.

my clio is twin cam,

the quicksilver is 8v i think, meaning better/more power low down, and yes, yours reach peak power at higher revs

  Lionel Richie

its acutally nearer to a 1.1, its 1149cc for the clio!!! 206 and 106 quicksilvers havent given me any trouble, there fairly quick though so be careful!!!!

well, I would guess that the 106 might beat you there, but as long as you keep it high in the revs should be ok. 8v are good for cross country (windy roads) 16v are good for straights.

yeah i reckon that after 60mph the clio should be better :) hopefully

do you know where I can get either the V6 bodykit or just the 172 sport body kit?

  Audi TT Stronic

dont know if there is a "172" bodykit..

The v6 kit is okay, but I would never get it cause its a bit too wannabe..not slating you though if you were to go for it . just saying it wouldnt be for me

He wont thrash you! It will be close but you should be fine as long as you use the full revs, ie. dont change up too early. And dont let him get a better start away from the line or you might not catch up!

172 replica kit is available from Prima. But I would watch it doesnt work out dearer than ordering a 172 front bumper, side skirts and inner and outer arches from reno cos thats all thats different.

All this "16v" and "16v" business is really confusing! I think people should say straight up if theyve got a 1.2 or a Valver!! A Valver would completely and utterly cane a Quicksilver, but a 1.2 would be close (I reckon in the 1.2s favour).

well, mine says 16v on the side ;), I had this todger in a quicksilver try to overtake me once, i was still in third and managed to out run him, couldnt be arsed to drop it to 2nd

hehe, thats what got me wondering!

hehe, this is the problem when Renault brought out a "Clio 16v".

They should change the technical name to "Valver"..

Yeah, but back in the day, it was something special to have "16v" written on your car!

Now even the most bum cars have 16v engines... but most 1.8s still make less than the Valver...

yeah i know what you mean, i can see why they did it, but they should have planned ahead!

most 1.8 16vs these days are lucky to push 130.

Unlucky.

Anyway the 1.2 is a 16v, its hardly a fake, i just think people new to the scene dont know much about the real 16v. It does say on the side of the car 16V so i dont think its a crime for someone to call it a clio 16v. You valver owners are starting to sound like snobs ;)

i too have struggled against the quicksilvers,

106 - i won :D but only by a whisker

206 - i just lost :(

The 206 comes with four types of engines.

1.1 8v

1.4 8v

1.6 16v

and 2.0 16v so if you where racing a 16v good chance it was 1.6 or above.

well whatever engine it was, it beat me by a couple or car lengths over a mile mile stretch of dual carriageway
