R Clios built like sh*t

Im still awaiting my clio, and hopefully it will arrive in the next week or so (1.2 16v)!!

However my mate has already had his a while on hire purchase and says the build quality is absolute bol*ox!! and his glad he never brought one!!!!!:D

IS IT TRUE??????

you get what you pay for...........want build quality that rivals VW, pay VW prices.

Its no worse than any other comparable manufacturer.

oh shut up
seconded, some people dont have the cash to insure them or wouldnt get the insurance due to their age/points/accidents etc so dont slate someone for buying a smaller engined variant when you dont know their circumstances. plus they may not even give a dam how quick it is and just prefer the looks/spec or way it drives in comparison to its market rivals

not everyone can afford a big engined clio !!!!!!! so leave them alone they have as much right as anyone to buy a clio even if they can only get a cheaper one

Exactly dogmaul!!! Its my first bloody car and its cost me 8 grand and over a grand insurance!!! nethin bigger would be impossible!!!

well i hope you enjoy it mate you will be glad to know that we arnt all snobs on here (all the time ;))

im sure you will have many happy hours sat in your local dealers waiting for it to be fixed like the rest of us hehe.

some times we may take the mik out of the smaller engined brothers but we never mean any harm by it.

if you ever need any help just let us know.

mike

my point exactly this is cliosport, not clio172/16v/rsi/v6sport so IMO everyone is welcome and shouldnt be thought of as owning an "inferior" clio just because the engine isnt as big

not true, buy a valver or willy or rsi, anywhere from £2000 - £5000 and spend the rest on insurance. Wouldnt come to anywhere near 8 grand.

!the clio v6 is built the best because each one is hand built. (hense the price)"

not sure about this was looking at neils left hooker v6 at cliospares, he says it looks like they have got a normal shell and used a plasma cutter to start chopping out bits of metal to make way for other things such as larger wheels!

Personally I think that the build quality is no worse than the majority of car manufacturers and much better than quite a few others. Cars like BMWs, Mercs and similarly priced cars are obviously better built, but then look at the price difference!

At least Clios havent had eight recalls like the Mini, as according to my friend who, after having loads of problems with her Cooper, and BMW wouldnt change it for a different one, she called out the AA for an independent assessment in which they had a big list of problems and told her that there had been eight recalls on the Mini.

I think the Clio has much standard equipment, which would be extras on most other cars and for the money, is pretty well built, but I can only vouch for the 172.

Are you forgetting that you will have to pay the out of the odds insurance premiums for more than just the first single year?
Doesnt matter even if u have one years no claims, on a car such as a williams you will be looking to pay alot up to either age of 21 or 25. so I think you find the difference between insurance will easily exceed 8000 & more than that in the years to come.
You gotta remember it aint just the first year you will have to pay out of the odds insurance premium.

When you are effectivly throwing away money each year any insurance premium is a lot of money for nothing (unless you crash etc)
