R Sport chip - your experiences?

  172 Ph1/Scooby MY00
Does anyone have an R Sport group N chip. I'm thinking 'bout it for my Mk1 172 and want to know if it's worth it.

Is it easy to fit yourself, is the power gain worth the cost and how much did you pay?

Cheers Rob669

quote from someone very much in the know. who told me once
'the r sport ecu is not worth it on the one with a cable throttle'

Yep, mine is the version with a throttle cable. Thanks. Can anyone second this view of the R Sport chip?

Cheers, Rob669

The chip is used more by the Cup owners.
Its supposed to give a few more hp 8k redline and frees up the mid rnage but it depends on the cars modifications.
It won't give a huge amount of power but then again little does on the engine.

ive got it and not had any probs etc but you lose on average bout 3 to 4 mpg, but 7800 redline! (not that thats keeping it in the power band of course lol)

I've had one fitted from 2.5k (now on 51k) and agree with what ^^^ edde said.

Extra revs help on track, and I've definitely not suffered any worse mpg.

Took about 2hrs to fit as a complete novice.
