The 21 turbo engine & box are an inline unit - meaning the UN1 gearbox fits onto the back of the engine and goes through the bulk head on the 21 ( the clio lump is a transverse unit ) . You will have to cut the bulk head of the clio out and fabricate a transmission tunnel for the box to go through. The J7R 752 lump is very tuneable and very reliable - probably one of the best engines Renault have ever built
Personally i would fit a 172 lump as it would be to much hassle
NO - the box goes through the bulk head but the drive for the driveshafts comes out of the front of the box - 1 at either side - pic attached. Bad copy but it gives you an idea.
bloke on rtoc fitted 1 in a gtt... put a transverse box on it and fitted it transverse... worked too... untill he changed the vacume hose and it came off the actuator... running to much boost and blew it up... think he gave up after that
