r5 engine in an rt

My 1.4rt engines cambelt just snapped and depending on how muchs its gonna cost want to know if you can slap in a r5 turbo engine in or is the gearing all out of something? Any info would be helpful. How much would it roughly cost? Cheers, sam

BRUN is the man to speak to, hell help you out with all the info.

Also, its worth doing a search....its been discussed a fair few times before.

evenin mate

first of all welcome to ClioSport

ive got a R5 GTT engine in my Clio, worth every penny its a totally diff car, like sh*t off a shovel compared to the old 1.4RT engine and im still on 7psi ! (yes yes i know but im savin for a T25)

a place in Cambridge did my conversion, called Grey Devil Industries, and i cant recommend them enough, Andy Cutler, the gaffer, takes a lot of pride and care in his work and he doesnt jus slap things together, every detail is done properly........

his number is 07010 716440

what i did was buy a donor R5 for £350 which was running, Andy tore it to bits and worked his magic on the engine........

loads of pics on this very forum of my conversion, ill find you some of the threads now and post it up

p.s. i live in the North West, it was worth all the travellin to get it done properly

a few weeks mate, i spent more than £2k easy on all that little lot, probably took me past £3k maybe, i cant remember how much i paid for it all exactly, as i kept adding bits to the bill and sending Andy more money

and yes it is worth it, ive now got a car with a rebuilt engine with a lot done to it that is way way faster than before........and will last for years....

currently saving for a T2/T25 hybrid which will hopefully see me crack 180bhp once its fitted with the right boost set...........ideally i want to crack 200

oh and 0-60 i dunno........ not had it timed yet, or had it on a RR for that matter, ill be doing all that once ive got the new turbo and the boost set

how much ££ you got to spend mate

if you got the cash personally i would get internal mods done to the engine such as cam/head work.........as a new turbo is easy to slap on afterwards
