I'm guessing from the comments RE getting temp into them they don't have a higher silica content akin to winter tyres making them softer and more grippy in sub 5 degree temps then.

Didn't think the difference would be that great. Do we get enough cold weather to justify the winter tyres? If I'll see the benefit I'd buy a set, but I don't want to be changing wheels twice a week!Winters are never gonna be like summers, You just have to change the driving style to adapt, this vid sum's it up, TBH dont know why the Uk dont adapt a winter tyre policy like the germans, would save a shed load of lives and accidents
This vid shows the differances.

having said that, it does work in reverse, If it warms up as it often does, the winters will work the other way if it goes above 7 degrees, and you'll lose braking distance etc, But not as much of a worry when its nice and dry.
If I had a baby to transport etc, I'd seriously consider investing in a set for winter in the uk, plus you get tio run black steelies and look uber hardcore, and it saves your wheels getting fecked up in the salt and shizzle, although mine go onto the std golf wheels.
weak double standards dave. i thought didn't worry about your wheels getting dirty?
