Got the back dropped all the way and the front by 60mm:

sweeet. looking good. im only wanting 40mm i think... was it those actual ones you purchased yourself? will they 100 percent fit? im a total novice and im terrified i spunk my money on them and then my mechanic tells me they wont fit...

  Clio Mk2 Ph2
Yeah I bought those exact ones (from a different seller though) and yeah they fit 100%.

If you only want 40mm drop buy sportlines.

If you go outside and measure you bolt spacing you'll know for 100% if they fit.

Your welcome.

From what I have heard sportlines should be fine on standard shocks. And yeah the coilovers are adjustable.

Sportlines are fine on standard shocks, they'll just be much much more comfy then coilovers.

good value if you just want your car to be low, but you will feel every bump in the road

will my shocks not be settled though if my car is 8 years old? anyone got a link for the sportline stuff? are they just springs yeah? my mechanic has quoted me 25 quid per corner.... that good?

  chumpmobile
'my mechanic'? just do it your f**king self

coilovers are what you want. with springs you will undoubtably want to go lower

fit them yourself, you need absolutly no mechanical know-how. its so simple, coiliovers are what you want mate

as for the size... is your car 8 valve or 16 ? easiest way is to go outside and measure

turn full lock,

Renault were c*nts and made the bolt spacing different. my bet is that its 58mm

  MK3 GTI golf 16v
if its 16 valve it should be 58mm but i would check. if you take your wheel off and look at the bottom of the suspension where it bolts on...there will be 2 bolts directly above each other, measure from centre to centre, you should see what i mean as soon as you look at it

as for fitting, jack the car up undo the bolts on the bottom of the suspension, undo the top mounts in the engine bay and the fronts should just come out like that

the rears are a bit different, the dampers are bolted at the top which you get to in the boot, the bolts under like rubber triangle things. and youll see at the bottom where it comes off...when you undo both sides the rear axle will drop so put something to stop it hitting the floor, when it does the springs will come out, nothing holds the springs on there just like wedged in.

only thing you will need is a spring clamp from halfords for like £15. when you take the front suspension off you will have to take the tops off and put them on your new suspension, you need the spring clamp to hold the spring so it doesnt fly off when you undo it.

that all make sence? lol, its pretty simple to be honest and as above its like 45 min / 1 hour job, maybe a little longer if your not sure what your doing but theres nothing difficult so youd be fine

aye kind of.... still unsure wether id be brave enough to try it myself though.... i think ill end up paying someone....

ill give it some thought.... but i think ill defo buy these coilovers then... i think the concensus is that theyll fit.... is there anything else ill need to buy in addition to the coilovers?

  MK3 GTI golf 16v
id get them mate, im fairly sure theres a guide for fitting these in the guide section. i know theres one for fitting springs which is basicly the same thing.

if your cars a 1.2 16v it should be 58mm. you wont need to buy anything else mate, but if you do it yourself youll need to get a spring clamp but thats it

  clio 5door sport rep
ok dude cheers for all the info... when i get it all fitted ill post some photos... hopefully looking all slammed

although.... 40mm? to little? not sure i want the uncomfy ride that 60mm seems to give....

what you reckon?

  MK3 GTI golf 16v
hard to say untill you put them on, but there easily adjustable so you can always play around with it. 40mm is probably too little, 60 wouldnt make a huge ride difference than 40 would.

my cars lowered about 70 i think and i prefer the ride over the standard suspension, but mine are AP coilovers i havent been in a car with the raceland ones

  clio 5door sport rep
i read a few reviews on the raceland ones and they seemed to get a good review considering the price...

another reason i was aprehensive about 60mm was that i have sideskirts that are as yet unpainted and unfitted.... was worried that 60 mm would be to low and that id have grief with the sideskirts. what you think? or am i bein para for nothing...

my cars about as low as i can go without it being impracticle, it would be fine if i had side skirts so you could go that low no problem. only thing i would say is make sure nothing sticks out under the car because you will catch it on things. i had a bolt on the exhaust bracket pointing down and it scrapped till i turned it round lol so yeah i think youll be fine with side skirts mate, if i where you i would get the car sat so it looks perfect then if you drive it and it scrapes etc then just higher it slightly.

RS grill is a must, looks so much better than the non sport ones. nah i dont have foglights :( upside is it saves weight

thats not bad at all, how where they to wire in ? you dont anything else to your car ?

  clio 5door sport rep
got my wee mechanic guy to wire them up... he done it in about half an hour i think. because my car didnt originally come with the brackets for them to fit into he just cable tied them up to feck... but theyre solid. look great. i just got lucky with the price on ebay mind you... i seen them selling on ebay anywhere from 25 quid per light.... not done a hell of a lot to it, only had it since january... i swore i wouldnt do anything to it at all... but i stuck alloys on it and not im obsessed with trying to pimp it hahahaha i stuck a spoiler on it the other week.. got it painted and fitted for £100 quid. i like it although ive had mixed reactions from folk on here. but you can please everyone :D

want to lower it...

if your not confident on doing it yourself and don't have the correct tools to hand (decent socket set, trolley jack and axle stands, allen key for top hat on shock and dog leg spanner ) it will be a pain and not worth attempting yourself. however if you have the above tools to hand , pay the membership on here and print the guide off :)

slight window tint is pointless imo...i'd go limo black and very lightly smoked on front two but thats for peoples preferences..
rs grill has got to be the easiest thing to fit...takes less than 2 mins...literally haa and your mechanic is quoting u way to much for springs...if you can do ur self...id be looking else where pal...

p.s get hid kit for front lights...another immese thing to do.
