Rad fan only works when ignition off

car was getting very hot so i turned the car off and the fan cut in, i turn the ignition on and the fan goes off, whats going on here then?

the fan only works when the ignitions off, when the ignitions on it doesnt work, it is slightly worrying..

mine is exactly the same.

i think its something to do with the radiator fan switch. One of the wires on mine has broken off so it doesnt work. the rad fan switch can be found on the driver's side of the radiatr about half way down, just infront of the inlet manifold.

correct check the 2 wires that go to the fan switch... fix and test
