Raising the limiter !

Hi guys

I've been looking into the RS tuner remap 98 ron these last couple of weeks , finally convinced the other half its worth doing ( better fuel economy ;) lol )

Now its well documented on hear the pros and cons etc etc , what im curious about is raising the rev limiter ? how well do the engines fair with this? ill be 100% honest I use my car to and from work and for the odd weekend blast, so at no point does it regularly see the limiter anyway but on the odd occasions i do like to stretch its legs!

My car imo is fairly well looked after its had the belts dephaser etc done recently and i keep on top of the oil changes

What's the general rule ? is the 300 rpm neither here nor there ? or is it worth upgrading to the ARP bolts bottom end ? or am i just over thinking / worrying about it?

Ive tried the search bar in advance but didnt seam to find much on this just that it raises the limiter which everybody loves lol

Cheers for the help in advance

Dean

ARP bolts are nice insurance but its fairly rare for the standard ones to fail.

We fitted them to my mrs car but on that Ive set the limiter to 7850 and it can briefly get past that, we have seen just over 8K on the logs

Dan ran that same rpm for a couple of weeks before he fitted the bolts on his but we only went there when I was mapping it he didnt go hanging it off it, but it shows they can do it briefly, lol

Haha right that's one high limiter ! So I'm principle mine should be fine ? Obviously no guarantee but should be okay really ? Panicking I think !

I personally wouldnt go to 7500rpm often on an F4R I cared a lot about with standard bolts, not for the sake of an afternoon and 100 quid for some bolts and some oil.

In that case it'll be having ARP bolts then lol ! Ill replace oil and filter at the same time ! Where do you normally get your bolts from chip? And is it a case of just ripping sump off? Or is there a ladder rack etc? I've not taken a f4R apart yet but I've had all sorts else apart

I normally get mine from Steve Milton but he doesnt generally do clio stuff but I use him for lots of other engines too.

Fred off here is good, or even KTEC arent too bad and at least they are good to deal with for mail order.

You have to move a splash guard out the way etc but its no drama.

RSTuner map and ARP bolts :S

Am i missing something? surely a good idea if going high rpm or plan too.

Never heard of any problems what so ever of the standard ones letting go with the 98ron map installed.
