Ran out of fuel

Ran out of fuel on m-60 last friday afternoon.

My fuel computer said 39 mile range and l had done about 12 miles.Will there be any damage?Should l take it to the dealers?Has anyone else had this before?

I was averaging about 38 mpg all the time after the display went blank

Shouldnt be any damage if car is fairly new and youve been using decent fuel, unless you have noticed a difference in the cars performance since running out of gas. Then Id let them give it a once over.

I ran my car with the fuel light on and the range display on blank for 20 miles after and when I filled up there was still about 8 litres left in the tank. Id averaged 39mpg.

Should be fine, fuel filter should stop all the rubbish getting into the engine.

you might need to change the fuel filter now tho, if its blasted all the sh*te from the engine into it. Dependant on the fuel youre using and the age of the car I would think.

Wouldnt have thought any lasting damaged would have been caused.
