Being a mint low mileage collector’s car, it was in great shape before I arrived.

12 hours later however, I left it like this:

First up on this cold Wintery morning, was the engine bay.

Befores:

Moving on to the door shuts/intricate areas next.

This was about as dirty as it got!

DSC08274wd.jpg

Tyres scrubbed with Degreaser. Arches flushed with an APC/Degreaser and agitated. Alloys cleaned with G101 and Tardis used to lift a couple of stubborn marks.

Snow-foam delivered.

Rinsed. Re-foamed and washed with two buckets, lambswool mitt and Dodo Juice Born To Be Mild.

At this point I was struggling. Who’d of thought you’d have to worry about water marks in December! The sun was beaming down in over the river; I had to pack-up and head inside for the claying stage.

Some of the swirls to contend with later..

Yet again, Limeprime breaking all the rules.

Working my way around. 50/50 on the o/s rear door in artificial light:

Natural light:

And with flash:

An amazing difference. Such lovely paint, too.

A bit of a 50/50 on the tailgate:

Leaving one or two deeper nicks.

Upon Limeprime completion, Supernatural was layed down, dressings attended to, alloys sealed, exhaust cleaned and a final wipeover given. End of day one.

Rise ‘n shine – we’re back to finish the interior and give a final Z8 wipe-down.

Leather cleaned and protected with LTT. Minimal dirt lifted from the leather due to it’s cleanliness from the start.

Finalise a few finishing touches on the outside and give the all important Z8 wipe-down.

Fortunately, the sun was on our side in the late morning. This allowed for some stunning photos..

Cracking! Never seen one in such condition :D

How much are you cutting into the paint with the polishing process (I'm a noob), to get rid of so many hard swirls?

Stunning, isn't it? A great example of the classis RR. Wonder if it's sold yet...?!

Typically, LR has quite soft paint.. This was only an enhancement detail, so, a single pass with a mild abrasive by machine.. I could have taken things a step further using a stronger compound, but, this wasn't spec'd to be.

I'd give 90% correction achieved for this one.. thats only the 'enhancement', too. Bear in mind, had I have done the same procedure as this on a Merc, an Audi or a BMW, I could have been looking at a mere 60/70% correction.. :boring:

Every car is different.

Thanks Jamie ,

So very annoyed this morning.. I should be kitting up on site now with a rather nice Porsche Carrera 4S. However.. The boiler blew up this morning at home, so, here I am waiting for the emergency call out man to come and fix us up. FAAAIL! :(

How much was he planning on selling it for mate.

I always wonder why people don't pay for a quick spruce up before selling, nothing entices a buyer more than looking at pictures of a stunningly clean car.

I know service history ect... but looking at that if you didn't know it had been detailed you would think it was very well looked after.

~£7k I think, gally.

It isn't a daily driver though, it needs to be taken off him by a Collector that will care for it, and, store it; much like the current owner has.

Fair enough, spruce a vehicle before a sale, but, why not have it done and get the benefit from it yourself, as opposed to somebody else!? That's what I can't understand..

Ive had multiple 'pre-sale' jobs now.. a Porsche Boxster S that was struggeling to sell.. had been to the bodyshop, interior was a mess, paintwork just as bad.. After the days work, it sold to the first viewer, "The best conditioned example that i've seen..." Also, a Vauxhall Zafira, dealer gave him a trade-in price of £8200... After 7 hours of my time, he was given £8550. So, in the end, he was quids up!! :approve:

Exactly what i'm talking about, it must add at least the price of the detail onto your car and improve the chances of selling it at the same time.

People just don't know this service is out there, Jim. That is the main problem. And by the time they find out, it is usually too late and they are looking to aid the sale of their car.
