Rant Time

as some of you may have read my 182's been at renault to have some faults fixed..

common alarm fault
knocking when decelerating from like 5/15mph
leather on the steering wheel gone dodgy
and the common brake light switch fault

took the car in at 8am yesterday
ring up at 4.30 pm and they say come collect it in the morning because they just need to check a few things on it

ring them up at 9.30 ''service guy is busy, he'll ring you back after hes finished with customer''

ring back at 10.10 ''hes busy, he'll ring you back when hes finished with the customer, did you ring earlier??''' ''erm yes and i wasnt rang back''

find out theyre still working on it

so i ring at 13.30 ''you can come collect the car, the knocking noise has been cured, the brake light switch has been sorted, the car will need booking back in for the alarm fault and a new steering wheel to be fitted which will be covered by warranty as this will need to be ordered''

gets there the bloke explains that the cobra technician wasnt available to find out about the alarm fix and that the car will have to be booked in for 2 weekdays to be fixed
and that they will have to ring renault uk on monday about the steering wheel being under warranty as theyre not sure what they will class as wear and tear as its done 19k miles..

says they couldnt find anything wrong causing the knocking problem, they went round did a spanner test checked everythign was torqued up correctly checked the subframe checked the condition of the mounts. said they couldnt get it to do the knocking noise anymore.

go to my car, just driving out the driveway to the renault garage and its still knocking.. reverse back tell the dude on reception
he sends out the mechanic bloke who sits in passenger seat while i drive it and he said the knocks definately there but they dont know whats causing it so book the car back in in january to see if its progressed anymore.

great so theyve had my car two days and all theyve managed to do is MAYBE fix the brake light switch fault (it only shows up like once every month or two so i wont know if its cured)

RAR!

if they dont replace my steering wheel under warranty im gonna write a nice long letter of complaint to renault UK

they must have a building just full of filed letters of complaint.

You should get your steering wheel done under warranty no probs. I had mine replaced on my 172 at about 27k miles about a month before the warranty ran out for a similar thing (leather gone icky and worn) no questions asked.
