RB 182 Cup. Work in progress!

Recently purchased an 05 182 cup model. Happy as its just had a cam belt so havent got to worry about that any more!

Had a remap from ktec and a Milltek cat-back system on it when I got it.

Ive managed to do a few things to it already but got a lot more planned!

Within an hour of picking it up, the Ktec splitter was on;) Also got the wheels refurbed while it was off the road.

Next up was taking it to Dad's workshop, painted calipers, just to tart it up a bit (didnt get a pic of the finished articles, bugger) :(

The bonnet rubber was ripped so I ordered a new one from davo172 ( i think thats his user name)

Scratched sills nicely covered with some vinyl stuff from my local bodyshop

and lastly de-wiper'd!

Here's some pics. Still looking at little bits to do to it so any suggestions would be good!

Cheers, Jon :)

looks nice get some plain plates on it front and back smaller front makes huge difference. and new sills as that black vinyl wrap looks pants. :p

Yer I saw some one had a front plate that perfectly fitted the recess on the bumper, but I have no idea what size I need to order!

N yes i agree the sills dont look amazing, but its better than seeing chipped grey primer :)

Thanks for the input tho !

i cant remember what size i ordered as mine fit the front recess, its the normal size across and either 84mm or 90mm need others to confirm

yeah from fancy plates

Get your plates from fancyplates using this guide:

http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?393818-3-4-Plate-Guide&highlight=plate+guide

Don't forget though that smaller font is illegal and plates need to show the post code of the maker and the BS number.

When I ordered mine I got a BS number added but there will be no postcode.

Worth it though, they look loads better than standard.

Also get a clean rear one made at the same time (with the legal size and markings).

Quick update:

Just spent far too long servicing the old girl. Started at 6 ... finished at 11.30. TOP.

Went the whole hog and put Bosch Iridiums in, Elf fully synthetic, genuine oil filter the lottttt.

Extra things were an ITG air filter (KTR one was 2 months old and falling apart, handy), Samco intake hose and cold air feed. Will try n get pics up when it's a bit cleaner tomorrow!

On the downside, dropped a bloody spanner on the alloy. So now gota faff around with the touch up paint. Arse ....

Next on the list, tart up with painted engine cover, couple of stickers and finish painting the rear calipers! And when winters over and all the snow disappears, eibachs and whiteline RARB :)

Better change the plugs to NGK PFR6E-10s.

#knowsit

I wish people would stop posting images of really nice, standard RB 182's as I'm desperate for one but the wife has my balls under lock and key and has said i'm not allowed one and need to be happy with my 19 :(

Change those plugs out though matey, seriously - really nice looking RB there.

Ordinarily there's nothing wrong with them but the F4R is a strange engine and seems to dislike anything but the NGK's

Ok thanks for the quick reply, was just a bit concerned by the way you lot were tallking it might damage the engine! But what you're saying is it might just run odd on these plugs? Like misfire etc.? Jon

it won't cause death and destruction but it will eventually cause poor MPG and missfires... just don't buy them from Renault direct because they're something daft like £18 each!

I <3 you Mick. You must be a decent mechanic. ;)

BTW: F4Rs (especially the 1*2 ones) are proper divas. Just get the right plugs and enjoy the engine's full performance. Renault's best 4-cylinder-NA-engine imo.

Get the plugs from Camberley Auto Factors, they were £10 each last time I bought some.

Nice RB, I'll keep an eye out for you in Basingstoke.

Hi Jon ive got a smaller front plate on my RB 182 the size of mine is 520mm x 86mm although the recess is 90mm so you could get 520mm x 90mm.
Heres how mine looks.

Will only happen if I get enough names thou.

Small update:

During the service fitted a Samco induction pipe and ITG panel filter, nice intake sound now from lower revs and also felt like it pulls a bit better! Bargain on the Samco brand new 40 quid ebayyyy ;)

PB080016.jpg

Didn't see the point of putting the panel filter in with the acoustic valve shiz in there, so removed this and added a cold air feed. Bit of a tight fit but got there in the end. Zip tied an air scoop to the lower grille so could keep the fog light and so far working out well! Although could be interesting with the winter coming ....

PB080020.jpgPB080018.jpg

Lastly, I always thought the engine could do with a bit of tarting up, was gona go for a carbon engine cover but mega mooooola for the decent ones *COUGH* Streamline.
So I got a 2nd hand one off the forum, gave it a lick of paint, and some OE style stickers with a twist ;)

PB080017.jpg

That's it for now, got some super brights on the way, next up is probs those poo number plates for a 3/4 front plate and plain rear plate. Oh yer I got some stickers for the sills made as well. Gona put those on at the weekend when she gets a wash. Hopefully make the plain black look a bit better!

Comments welcome :) Cheers, Jon
